ALS DoubleDay Bike Ride set to Ride Again on July 28-29, 2007
Seattle, WA (PRWEB) June 26, 2007 -- For the seventh year, the ALS Doubleday Bike Ride and Fundraiser will set off to raise money and awareness for ALS. On July 28 and 29, 2007, riders from all over the western states will gather to support the Evergreen Chapter of the ALS Association by riding 85 miles. The home base for the fun, family-friendly event is the Conway School located in Conway, Washington in the beautiful Skagit Valley, north of Seattle.
ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis), commonly known as Lou Gehrig's disease, is a progressive, neuromuscular disease that attacks nerve cells and pathways in the brain and spinal cord, which typically claims the lives of its victims within 2-3 years of diagnosis. There is no known cause or cure for ALS.
"The ALS Association is very excited for the seventh year of the DoubleDay. Each year participants have had the opportunity to ride through picturesque Skagit Valley farmland and rolling hills. We are thrilled to be hosting our ride in such a great area with significant local support for the ALS community," said Becky Moore, Executive Director for the Evergreen Chapter.
The 2007 DoubleDay introduces new features for participants, including online registration and fundraising as well as a custom designed event bike jersey. Full event support, including bike maintenance by Gregg's Cycle, staffed rest stops, and post event massage make it easy to participate and enjoy the ride.
All 2007 DoubleDay participants raising $250 or greater will be eligible to win a new bike at the drawing during the Pasta4PALS (PALS are People with ALS) dinner on Saturday night -- note you must be present to win. Whether you are an experienced or a novice rider, mark your calendar for July 28-29, 2007 to be in Skagit Valley for the ALS DoubleDay.
